In 2014, inspired by critics celebrating the 75th anniversary of 1939, “Hollywood’s Greatest Year,” Adam Spector looked at that year and others from the studio era that featured a strong lineup. Seven years later, he went back to this article for another project.
“While most of it still holds up, I made some revisions, most notably adding another year – 1950.
