On July 27, 2022, Norman Lear turned 100 years old. He’s made us laugh at our differences since 1971 when he and his partner Bud Yorkin created and produced All in the Family, a TV series that would eventually win 22 Emmys and change the face of television. Norman’s many successes are common knowledge to most who follow such things, but what is not so well known is the back story behind the creation of the nonprofit, People for the American Way, an organization he launched in 1981.
