Welcome to Women in Film & Video DC! We're here to celebrate women’s creative and technical achievements in media, both in front and behind the camera
As we finish our summer series theme, "Time Is of As we finish our summer series theme, "Time Is of the Essence," where all the films take place within a 24-hour period, WIFV Film Club invites you to join us for our September movie discussion of GROUNDHOG DAY (1993) on Monday, September 21. Watch the film in advance of the meeting, register for film club at wifv.org/calendar, and come prepared to share your thoughts! Meetings are held virtually and open to the public every third Monday of the month, 7:30-8:30 p.m. ET. Film Club is co-hosted by Connie St. John (@conniesaintjohn) and Ericka Boston.

WIFV's Documentary Roundtable kicks off its fall s WIFV's Documentary Roundtable kicks off its fall season with a story 330 years in the making. Join us Monday, September 14 for an evening of mystery and revelations. THE LAST WITCH: It's Never Too Late for Justice, is a documentary chronicling the efforts of a middle school classroom petitioning the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to right a wrong and exonerate Elizabeth Johnson Jr. - sentenced to death for the crime of Witchcraft. Johnson was the last remaining person still accused of Witchcraft from the 1692 Salem trials. With interviews of the accused's descendants and the optimistic efforts of a middle school class, we will delve into how a classroom project took on a life of its own. Joining us will be Director/Writer @annikahylmo, Co-Producer Bergitte Jorgensen, and Editor @elikarezaee. In 1979, Ginny Durrin sent a letter to a dozen wom In 1979, Ginny Durrin sent a letter to a dozen women she knew working in media inviting them to a meeting at her house. They were encouraged to invite others. Soon there were too many women attending to hold meetings in their homes and they moved to larger venues. Among the women involved in the first year were: Ginny Durrin, Judy Herbert, Sharon Ferguson, Christine Brim, Jan Hatcher, Norma Davidoff, Pat McMurray, Catherine Anderson, Lauren Versel, Michal Carr, Elise Reeder, and Polly Krieger. WIFV was incorporated as a charitable organization on September 10, 1979. Thanks to our foremothers for their foresight and to all of you who keep this organization vibrant! Celeste Caldwell won a cookbook by Pati Jinch, a recent guest on our MediaMaker Spotlight podcast. DCTV shared their studio space for the event, where we screened recent short films by WIFV members Jon Lutz, Dani Ellsworth (@directed.by.dani), Jenn Koiter (@jennkoiter), James May, and Joe Dzikiewicz (@jdzikiewicz).
