By:Adriana Del Castillo

Through the week of September 28-October 3, Media Rise is hosting its annual festival for filmmakers, writers, and young aspiring professionals.

The festival features a series of workshops, screenings, presentations, and talks about important topics in our society, aiming to “create a positive change through media.”

Previous participants have said:

“Wonderful gaining inspiration from today’s and tomorrow’s change agents for good”-Brian Dyak CEO, Entertainment Industries Council.

“Your collective efforts to build a community of media for social good users is incredible and provides for more ideas to grow and fruit”-Sean Southey CEO, PCI Media Impact.

Pitch Night & Video Challenge

The festival kicks off with Pitch Night, a competition where filmmakers create “high impact, high quality videos” for nonprofits in just 48 hours. After a screening, the best videos are selected and have the chance to pitch their proposals, as well as win cash and other prizes.

Youth Festival

For ages 13-18. Participants work in small teams on real-world socially relevant, meaningful media projects using the skills they have learned in the workshops. While registration is free, spots are limited.

The Media Rise Festival also is screening films such as Watermark, The Mask you Live in, and Risers.
