Fran Murphy was nominated as writer producer for a history program entitled SERVING WHILE BLACK. “The program looks at the contributions of African Americans of the Greatest Generation who gave their all during WW2 despite the barriers to their achievement. We follow Brigadier General Charles McGee, a Tuskegee Airman, who at age 100 still flies jets. Indiana Martin was one of the famed members of the 6888 Postal Battalion who saw that GI’s got their mail by sorting through a backlog of 7 millions packages and letters during the London Blitz. The late Thomas Mangrum was the last of the Black Panthers, the tank group that help turn the tide in the Battle of the Bulge. Waverly Woodson was a medic on Omaha Beach on D Day. We hope he gets the Medal of Honor he so deserves. It was such an honor to tell the stories of these American heroes.”
